Disunited kingdoms: the nation state today

6:30pm, Thursday 2 July 2015, Bishopsgate Institute, 230 Bishopsgate, London, EC2M 4QH

Part of the Justice, Money and Power series at the City of London Festival 2015

Scotland may have voted to keep the Union, but the UK’s future is far from secure. The SNP vows the ‘45%’ who lost the referendum will return in a generation, while they are calls for even greater devolution to England’s cities and regions. 2014 was defined by independence movements, from the civil war in Ukraine and anti-EU movements across Europe through to the sinister rise of Islamic State. Is the nation state making a comeback or in crisis?
